I am listening to the Teresa Tomeo archives since I usually miss the show each morning.

I thought it was interesting how you mentioned that we think our kiddos are too young to be pressured because they're only 6, 7 or 8. You're so right.

My 6 year old mentioned one day that she needed new tennis shoes. I asked her why since her current shoes were fairly new and in good condition. She said the kids were giving her a hard time because she "likes Dora." Dora was on her tennis shoes.

It made her so sad that she hated PE day because she was required to wear her tennis shoes. It is so sad that they are giving her a hard time about something like that.

So, to keep her from getting picked on, I took her to get some new shoes. I used to be picked on for so many things and I can understand how that bothers her so much.

Just wanted to comment!

Hi Angie,

Thanks so much for writing. Thanks for listening to the archives. Yes, we tend to think that the little ones have no worries because they are LITTLE! Wrong! Wow, your six year old is getting picked on?? That is unreal. I wish I knew that before the show. Keep watch on my blog for when I will be on, because I am always open to comments to bring with me to the show AND you can call in, too. I will be putting a link on my blogs and website a little later on or tomorrow.

I think it's smart that you went out and got new sneakers, though. We can all remember our young years and the bullying or ridiculing part really stands out, doesn't it?

God bless,
Donna
