Next time you worry about fitting your prayers in during your overly-packed days with the kids, think about this notion which I wholeheartedly agree with, and well, it comes from a saint!
"Do not distress yourself about your prayers. It is not always necessary to employ words, even inwardly, it is enough to raise your heart and let it rest on our Lord, to look lovingly up toward this divine Lover of our souls for between lovers the eyes speak more eloquently than the tongue."
~ St. Francis De Sales
Of course, this doesn't mean you don't look for every opportunity for prayer because you can fit your Rosaries in on your fingertips when your hands are busy with the care of the household and family. But, there are plenty of times when your focus is critically needed for your family, and you can't formulate the words to speak to Our Lord; it is then when your loving looks to Him are enough - He knows!

Donna,
This is just wonderful, and I knew it St. Francis de Sales before I saw his name. It is sooo him! That's why he's my favorite.
I worry a lot about praying enough and having enough quiet time for reflection (what's that when kids are around??) and not being able to devote uninterrupted time to the Lord. The point is, even my interrupted time is useful because I'm doing my job -- being a wife and mom -- and that pleases the Lord.
Thanks for posting this.
Bless you!
It's great that you love St. Francis de Sales. He IS great! I totally agree with you regarding doing your job and how that pleases the Lord AND doing our work can easily BECOME a prayer too when it is offered to God. We're actually so fortunate to have such jobs, aren't we? God looks fondly upon mothers!
God bless you too!
Fantastic reminder for all of us!!
Thank you so much for this post. I am working on my prayer life and needed something like this.
Thanks for stopping by Tracy. May you and your household be blessed!
Hi "Astevens,"
You are very welcome! I speak a lot about this in all of my books for Moms which you can find on my website: www.donnacooperoboyle.com
